The Saint Louis Workers’ Education Society was home to Latinos En Axion for two years. We assisted them with creating a sustainable organization that services hundreds of immigrants and refugees throughout the St. Louis region.
Lations En Axion is a grassroots organization created to build community power for social and economic justice, to fight for humane and just immigration reform and to act as a local resource to parishes and communities.
They offer a number of adult continuing education programs in collaboration with the Mexican Consulate designed to teach Latino Americans to read, write and speak in their native tongue and to complete their first and secondary education. They also offer English as second language classes, domestic violence abuse services and youth workshops designed to help children and teenagers deal with bullying, the separation of families and and questions of faith.
Their mission includes creating an environment of understanding and confidentiality, empowerment and education, as well as trainings on economic and leadership development. They work in diverse alliances on local, regional and national issues. They organize campaigns to win immigrant, workers and women’s rights.
